“I recently saw a post that Ian shared looking for different family dynamics to capture some candid photos. One dynamic he was wanting to capture was a single parent with children. I quickly replied as I have never did a photo shoot with just my kids and I. I am usually the ones taking the photos of them, or the occasional selfie with all 3 of us. I didn’t know what to expect as I wasn’t familiar with his work and figured it was worth a shot even if I only got one nice picture of us together. Ian reached out to me and explained what he was hoping to achieve with the photoshoot, as well as, took the time to ask “get to know you” questions prior to. We scheduled a date and time to meet at Conrad’s Beach. When we arrived he greeted us with a big smile and Hello! Myself, as well as my kids, instantly felt comfortable. He called them by name and just let them be kids. (They may have been bribed with a donut to do the photoshoot prior to and had a sugar rush lol). The poses he did suggest felt natural and captured us perfectly. He also let us just free range and enjoy the gorgeous night at the beach - which captured some of the most amazing pictures of my kids, and of the 3 of us. The kids didn’t want to leave and were loving the experience. He then told me he’d have the pictures ready within the next couple of days. When I received the email from him with the edited pictures - I smiled from ear to ear. He was able to capture so much emotion - pure happiness from myself and my kids.
